Blog Hosts - sites where you can set up your own blog, for free

Globalteacher  A hosting site specially set up for Victorian teachers.  From their about page: The Global Teacher Project is a joint project between the Victorian Education Channel and The School Library Association of Victoria. The project is designed to provide teachers with a weblogging space which supports research in the use of this new technology.

Globalstudent  Related to Globalteacher, specially for student and class blogs

 

Edublogs Edublogs hosts blogs for teachers, students, researchers, professors, librarians, administrators and anyone and everyone else involved in education.  Edublogs are completely free, without any advertising, and come with 100MB of free upload space and a heap of great features

 

Globalteacher/student and Edublogs are based on Wordpress, you can get a free blog with wordpress but you will find the occasional ad on your site.

 

Blogger is part of Google so if you already have a google account using Blogger for your blog will save you getting yet another username and password.

 

Support and help for blogging

Sue Waters writes The Edublogger for Edublogs.  It has heaps of advice and ideas for blogging and she is very helpful and supportive.  Well worth subscribing to.
